For sure at my mothers place. Considering my family have lived in Zagreb for generations she is preparing genuine homemade Štrukle! However this benefit can only enjoy my family 🙂
Unfortunately, I am not a cook and if my daughter does not take interest in learning how to make them homemade štrukli will vanished in our family and only good memory will remain, because nobody can make štrukli soup like my mother doeas.
I know we still have Konzum, but the second best place is little restaurant La Struk in Skalinska street (little street between Kaptol and Gradec). They have verity of fillings and at first I though no!!! But than I tried walnut and honey and it wasn’t that bad, nevertheless I stick with traditional and I am fateful to original.
Traditional Zagreb dish can be prepared in many different ways; salty and sweet, you can cook and bake, soup, but the best way is baked with lot’s of curd cheese, creamy and pastry like a dough or dumpling. Yum!
In 2007 Zagorski štrukli was added to the list of Croatia’s intangible cultural heritage maintained by Croatia’s ministry of culture.
Try them you will not be sorry.
